I Tried the Glitter Lip Kit Naomi Campbell Wore to the VMAs
Pat McGrath Glitter Lipstick Review + Swatches
I’m all about glitter and metallic lipsticks lately. It’s super on trend, and when I saw Naomi Campbell rocking that fierce glitter lip at the VMAS I knew I had to get my hands on the Pat McGrath Glitter Lip Kit.
While Naomi wore Pat Mcgrath’s kit in Vermillion Venom, I opted for the color Blood Wine.
Here’s what you get in your $60 Kit:
Bloodwine
– 2 x 0.05 oz Lipstick in Blood 1, Blood 2 (2 lipsticks)
– 0.46 oz Clear Vinyl Gloss
– 0.07 oz Metallic Gold Pigment
– 0.07 oz Microfine Glitter in Blood
Here’s what the colors looked like on my skin tone
Gold Pigment Over Clear Gloss
Red Glitter over Blood 2 Lipstick
Red Glitter over Blood 1 Lipstick
My Review
Application:
These were super easy to apply. I’ve been playing with glitter lipsticks quite a bit lately and found that using a clear gloss as an adhesive is by far the best way to apply these. To apply you simply coat your lips with the lipstick, follow with the gloss, and add the glitter using your finger or a synthetic eyeshadow brush.
Price:
$60. You get your money’s worth with this kit. Of course, you can find cheap glitter pigments anywhere, but the lipsticks alone are worth $25 each and they are highly pigmented and SUPER comfortable.
The Product:
The gold pigment over the gloss, for me, was the hit in this collection. It’s super editorial, however, it’s unique. No one else really has anything like it on the market.
I did, however, find that the glitter didn’t really show up when applied over the blood 1 lipstick. I had much better luck applying it on it’s own over over gloss or over Blood 2.
Final Thoughts:
I’m really happy with my kit. Like most, I thought it was expensive, but now that I have them I I would go so far as to say I wish i had held out and purchased the $150 set. I may in fact, return this one to Sephora and upgrade to the larger everything kit. You can buy yours here.
