Preserve Your Melanin with BeBella Probiotic Skincare System

Like most black women, I’ve been a firm believer in the old saying, “Black don’t crack.” While it is true that the more melanin in the skin, the longer it takes for that skin to reflect the classic signs of aging, however, this fact should not absolve black women from taking care of our skin.

Make no mistake,  I take great pride in sometimes being mistaken for being in my late teens (I was carded the last time I purchased scratch-offs) and early twenties, but the fact is I am in the 30s and my skin knows it. That’s why I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to try the BeBella Probiotic Skincare System.

Bebe & Bella is a family business, founded in the mid 1950’s, as a  pharmaceuticals company, with an emphasis in nutritional supplements and probiotics. Rose and her daughters, Linda and Allison, have had a lifelong commitment to well being and overall health. Living in the sunny South, all three understand that proper skincare is an essential aspect of everyday life. In 2013 they became business partners creating the groundbreaking probiotic based skin care company – BeBe & Bella, LLC.

The BeBella Difference

BeBella Skincare System contains a two patented anti-aging ingredients: Probiotic + Yeast Propagate Technology. Probiotics are known for their ability to balance the digestive system, and when applied to the skin they encourage faster cell turnover. They also increase skin hydration, and reverse photo-damage. The BeBella® skincare system is a combination of skincare products and oral supplements. The oral supplements amplify overall health benefits to the skin when used in tandem with the topical products.

The Step-By-Step BeBe & Bella System

The BeBella System uses the Japanese method of layering, which dictates a sequence of products applied to the skin in order of recommended use.

Step 1. The BeBella Facial Cleanser is a super creamy cleanser that removes oil and makeup. A little bit goes a long way, and your skin won’t feel completely stripped when you’re done.  The cleanser contains three fatty acids  to improve skin elasticity, returning the skin to a balanced pH. 4.2 fluid oz retails for $65.

Step 2.  BeBella Purifying Facial Toner is a pretty traditional toner that you’d use to remove excess dirt. I applied a a few drops to a cotton ball and then applied it to my face.  This toner also helps to minimize the appearance of pores, and prepares your skin to absorb moisturizing products. 5 fluid oz retails for $52.

Step 3.  The Bella Facial Essence is a super lightweight serum that contains patented ferment filtrates and hyaluronic acid, increasing the skin’s natural defenses and preventing moisture-loss.  This serum is water-based and comes in a gel-like formula. It absorbs so nicely into the skin, too.  1 fluid oz retails for $70.

Step 4.  The BeBella Eye Cream.  The BeBella Eye Cream contains ferment filtrates and vitamin E to hydrate and improve fine lines.  0.35 fluid oz retails for $55. The eye area, for me, is always a dead giveaway when it comes to revealing your true age. I’m all for aging gracefully, however, if you want to keep the wrinkles and dark circles at bay use this stuff.

Step 5.  The Bella Hydrating Night Cream is designed for use night time use. It’s extremely heavy and a wee-bit on the oily side, so you only need the slightest amount.   A 1.76 fluid oz jar retails for $120.

Step 6.  The BeBella Facial Essence Stick combines the BeBella Facial Essence with lifting lipid polymers in an easy-to-use twist-up delivery system.  The Facial Essence Stick is designed to be used over makeup as a mid-day touchup for an added boost of hydration and to reduce fine lines. I’ll be honest,  I didn’t use this product too frequently as I don’t suffer from dry skin and I don’t have any visible lines on my face.   0.35 fluid oz retails for $65.

MY REVIEW

skin-care-tips-for-black-women

My major skin concerns include oily skin, hyper-pigmentation, and hormonal acne. While the BeBella Skincare system doesn’t necessarily target those concerns, I have found that after 4 weeks of use, my dark spots are lighter, my acne has lessened and the overall texture of my skin has improved. Since the system is huge on hydration I was worried that my skin would become even more oily, but on the contrary, I have found that increasing the moisture level has helped to balance the excess sebum my skin creates. As a consequence my skin is less oily and my foundation has been looking flawless lately.

Below are some quick skincare tips

  1. Moisturize Moisturize  Moisturize, even if you have oily skin. The more moisture you give your skin, the more balanced it will become.
  2. Use skincare products with Hydraulic acid acid and Vitamin C. Both are great for anti-aging and brightening the skin and helping to lighten dark spots.
  3. Use a separate eye cream to target dark circles and fine lines
  4. Take a Probiotic Supplement. See above for all of the amazing benefits.
  5. Drink plenty of water

  5. Hi Lisa,
This is a fantastic product review, great job! I’ve heard about the BeBella skincare, but I haven’t tried them yet. I’m a little conservative when it comes to skincare, but I’ve also been hoping to find a product that will help me fight off early signs of aging. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Hi, Lisa, do you do free shipping? I live in Chicago and I went to Amazon and I only found one skin care product, which was the BeBella BeClara Skin Supplement, the oral skin care supplement. I was trying to find the facial cleanser but I can’t find it on Amazon, are you shipping through another website? Also, I can’t find a regular Moisturizer on this website, I’ve just found the night cream and eye creme. Do you have a regular Moisturizer?
    Thank you

    1. Hi there! This is just a product review. I am not affiliated with the company. You should contact their customer service on their website.
