Revlon Lip Butters Review (Women of Color Friendly)

Revlon Lip Butters have been on the market for well over 6 months now, so this review is on the late side. Sue me, ha ha! Honestly, I think I actually prefer reviews that come a little bit later because it means the reviewer has actually had enough time with the product to give it a proper thrice over.
Overall, I really like the revlon lip butters. I find them to serve as highly pigmented tinted lip moisturizers. They aren’t as glossy as a gloss, but they definitely don’t have the lipstick feel if you know what I mean. The term “lip butter” really suits this product. I like to use these lippies as my grab and go colors. You know, the lippies you can apply quickly, sans mirror and sans lip liner and sill have your lips looking soft and colorful!  When I throw these on I feel like i’m putting on a lip balm. I feel very natural and I’m not thinking about whether or not I’m getting the color on my teeth or somewhere else it shouldn’t be.
That being said, I’ve collected  several lip butters over the last few months and I’ve come to the conclusion that the darker colors suit me (and perhaps other women of color) the best. The first color I tried was Berry Smoothie and I loved it, but after that I tried several of the lighter colors and was JUST about to give up, when someone on the Beauty Broadcast facebook page suggested I stick to the darker colors. Boy was she right! Colors like creamsicle and cupcake, both in the lighter family, just come out ALL wrong on my lip color:

On the contrary, the darker colors, particularly in the berry family look lovely on my skin tone:

  1. Great review! I was sad to not see a photo of raspberry pie though. If you like the darker colors, I highly recommend pink truffle.

    1. Hi Sofi! I think i may have swatched it in the video above. It’s really hard to swatch lipsticks back to back and still get the true color. Next time I will simply swatch my arms. Pink truffle was in the raisiny/brown family on me. Not very pink. I prefer the berries, reds, and pinks :).

  2. omg then PLEASE try Sugar Plum! I love love love it! I’m already on my 3rd tube!! Beautiful color

    1. lol, if you saw my collection of lipsticks and glosses you would NOT be encouraging me to try more, lol. But I will take a look see at the next 40% off revlon sale at Rite Aid. Thanks for the tip! xoxo
