How to Wear a Statement Necklace
Statement necklaces are the easiest, yes, the easiest way to immediately transform the most blah outfit into a head-turning stylish ensemble. And although celebrities have been making bold statement necklaces the focal point for many of their outfits, I would say that J.Crew ( Shop Here or Here) is responsible for sparking the trend among us common folk.
Even though we can see examples of these stylish pieces everywhere, I still have people approach me and say, “I love that necklace, but I’d never know how to style it.” Really?! Well let me break it down for you as simple as pie.
1. Buy a bold necklace you’d probably never think of wearing. But make sure the colors within the necklace are relatively neutral, meaning it could go with anything. I say go with clear, black, or brown stones. My favorite statement necklace right now is the Stella & Dot (Shop Here) Phoenix Pendant. Isn’t she lovely?
2. Wear something pretty plain. Like a plain white collared blouse or even a simple white or or Crop Top.
3. Pair the plain top with an equally plain skirt, jeans, or slacks. Shoes can be bold or plain, you decide. Since I’m a loud dresser, I’d go with bold. But for you, newbie, go with plain.
4. Stack that bling! Yes, Ma’am! Stacking Necklaces is a great way to take that statement piece even further. See here how I Stack my Stella & Dot Phoenix Pendant with the Somervell Necklace (also by Stella & Dot).
