KinkyCurlyYaki Hair Review
UPDATE!
Hi Ladies, please take a moment to watch this update video BEFORE purchasing this hair. I’ve had a change of heart:
Original Review
Yes, ladies, I have discovered the hair put on this earth by the natural hair Gods and she goes by the name of KinkyCurlyYaki.
I took a VERY long break from wearing extensions only to discover that my hair, actually, prefers to be left alone. Moisture, little product, and low manipulation are my three musts for maintaining natural hair length. That being said, I needed a break. A big break.
But here was my problem: I didn’t want to install hair that would require me to use heat to blend it with my own hair. Between postpartum shedding and hormone fluctuations, my hair can no longer tolerate flat iron heat, like, not even a little bit. I was 100% after a very natural-looking installation.
As you can see, this hair is almost virtually undetectable from my own hair (Click HERE to see pics of my natural hair). And I’ve managed this almost seemless blending by doing the following tools:
1. Wet leave out| 2. Apply a liberal glop of Ecostyler gel|3. Brush leave out down with a hard bristle brush|4. Tie it down with a scarf
I also used a few bobby pins to hold my leave-out in place. But other than that, with the right hair, it’s pretty easy.
KinkyCurlyYaki sells a variety of textures including straight hair, a looser kinky curly texture, and the texture I’m wearing, which is KinkyCurly Afro starting at $112 per bundle. When it arrives, it actually has a really tight curl, perfect for girls with 4a-4c curls.

Stella & Dot Engraveable Necklace stacked with the Somervell Necklace. Buy both HERE
As you can see, the hair stretches nicely from it’s original tightly curly texture to a looser curl by simply too strand twisting the hair and applying Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie.
I’ve only had the hair installed for a week, so stay tuned into my Youtube channel (HERE) where I will post an updated review after the hair has been installed for 6 weeks. But so far? I’m in L-O-V-E and haven’t experienced any matting or shedding.
What are your tips for maintaining your natural hair when wearing extensions?
Hey, Boo! My name is Lisa and you’ve stumbled upon my own little corner of the world. I’m a 30 something-year-old writer/mother/wife who happens to love lipstick, high heels, blackness, and the truth. You’ll find a mix of everything on this site, so I won’t bore you by trying to define this space. I hope you stay awhile!
Wow gorgeous! You can’t tell it’s a weave at all. Love it!

Thanks Vanessa! I’ll probably order something different next time! I’ll try light yaki next!
Does it curl and hold curls?
I have no idea.I didn’t curl this hair, it’s already curly. You should contact the company directly with those kinds of questions. You may want to watch my update video first, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5c2p8r9aOw
The hair was pretty good but I placed an order for clip-ins and they sent me the wrong order. I also paid for a shipping and handling for 2-3 business days and it took almost 2 weeks to get to me. I then e-mailed the company and the person e-mailing me from the company tried to tell me that what they meant by 2-3 business days was after they processes the order, then it would take 2-3 business days to get to me. The description did not say that when I checked out and paid extra for it to get to me in 2-3 business days. So I mentioned that to her in my following e-mail and then asked for a refund. The lady then told me me to send the hair back and she will see if she can give me my money back.
Long story short, I never received the clip-ins or my refund. I highly recommend that if you want professionalism, go somewhere that will treat your customer service like you deserve.
Girl, that might be the real thing! Could not tell at all. Weeerk it.

Right?? love it!!
Is there a natural weave for 4C hair that you recommend? It sounds like this hair became matted… not good. Have you had a better experience with other hair? I’ve tried Runway Curls (awful) and Queen Weave Beauty (equally awful).
I have plenty of posts about Bigchophair which is the only hair I wear. I have well over 10 videos on my youtube and several blog posts. Check out this one for instance: https://lisaalamode.com/2017/09/01/three-ways-rock-natural-hair-clips-ins-like-bawse-video/. I also have some videos where I get the hair sewed in. Try it and use code LISA to save $$
I ordered a custom made wig; however, for the price 200 USD, the quality was mediocre (3/5). There was not enough hair added to the wig, and the texture was rough. They do not provide refunds, and exchanges are only on their other products excluding wigs. I would go somewhere else for better quality.
