Paula’s Choice Skincare Review

Paula’s Choice Skincare Review

Okay, I admit it. I’m a skincare junkie. I am well aware of the fact that my days of using any old thing on my face are OVER. I’m way more careful now about the foundation I choose, as well as the the ingredients in the skincare I choose. A few months ago I shared some of my favorite  skincare products for oily skin HERE, and today I’m pumped to tell you all why I love Paula’s choice and intend on being a long time customer for years to come.

First, up, let me keep it real: Paula’s choice sent me all of these items for free.99 to review. HOWEVER, I’ve been using them now for almost a month and would not, I repeat, I would not post this review if the products had in anyway not been up to their claims. I took my time using this complete system because I wanted to be sure the products were indeed worth their weight in gold. They are, and then some!

The Consultation

Yes, there is a consultation (anyone can get a free personal skincare consultation by calling this number: 1-800-831-4088)! Before even placing my order I had the opportunity to discuss my skincare concerns with a skincare expert. I have SUPER oily skin, so I was looking for something to help balance my skin, but also be sensitive enough to not cause any breakouts. I have in the past used lines by Boscia, Proactive, and Murad and have always walked away not only unimpressed, but also a little annoyed by how little you get for your money.

 Skin Balancing Advanced Kit
Skin Balancing Advanced Kit

Boom! I cannot tell you how psyched I was when I came home to the Skin Balancing Advanced Kit plus a few extras like the sample sized Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant (retails for $9 and is LITERALLY my favorite product out of the collection), the Resist C15 + Resist Ultra-Light Serum, and the super pigmented The Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette. The Skin Balancing Advanced kit retails for $149.99, but I’m telling you, it’s worth it. You get sooo much product this kit can totally last you for 5-6 months.

Here’s what I got in more detail:

Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Oil Control Cleanser

Rich & Creamy and does a great job of reducing oil without drying out my skin.

Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Pore Reducing Toner

I’ve never used a toner that actually does what it says it does. I’ll spare you the pictures of my cotton swab after using this product, but suffice it to say that I was sold when I saw that bad boy COVERED in blackheads. No more harsh blackhead removal strips for me.

$9 Sample Size Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

I received both the full size and the sample size liquid exfoliant and I attribute much of my skin’s transformation to this little bottle. I’ve only been using the sample sized bottle and I still have over half of it left. so for $9 you could easily have 2 months of use with this tube of magic. My skin is tight, smooth, and my enlarged pores are no more. Read more about it HERE.

I’m not that big on sunscreen. I usually use whatever sunscreen is included in my foundation or BB cream, but I really like this stuff. Unlike traditional sunscreens, this is light-weight and dries matte. No thick white residue, either.

Skin Balancing Oil-Absorbing Mask

I love clay masks. I think a clay mask is the essential mask for every girl who struggles with oily skin. I use this 1-2xs a week and my skin loves it.

Since I wear makeup during the day, I like to use these two for my nightime routine. There are quite a few steps, but after seeing the results of my clear, poreless skin, I’m sold. I’m not ashamed to admit that every night, after putting JB to bed, I turn my bathroom into a spa. It’s become my special time to just luxuriate in these good-for-your-skin products. Join me! You deserve it!

I would also recommend using this gel at night. It’s silicone based, so it dries to a smooth matte finish, but I found that it worked best at night, without the interference of my foundation.

The Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette

This palette is all you need to create the perfect daytime look. The colors are matte and pigmented enough to show up even on my dark skin. For darker skinned women I would recommend using a white eyeshadow base and a wet shadow brush to really make the colors pop.
