Best Deep Conditioner for Type 4 Natural Hair
I know most naturals dread wash day. It’s the day that many of us spend pre-pooing, co-washing, deep conditioning, detangling, twisting, sealing, and more. It can all be a bit much, especially when usually Day One hair looks a bit shriveled and, well, uncute. Well I’m here to save the day as I have discovered the best deep conditioner for Type 4 hair. Yes, indeed ladies, the deep conditioning combination I’ve discovered will ensure that your wash day hair is soft, bouncy, and full of LIFE. I swear, after doing this routine my curls never felt so soft.
STEPS
Step 1. Wet Your Hair
Step 2. Coat your strands with a light oil like Grapeseed oil, Coconut oil, or SheaMoisture’s Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir
Step 3: Warm up some honey in the Microwave for 15 seconds
Step 4: Coat your strands in the honey.
Step 5: Place a plastic cap on your hair and let it sit for 15 minutes with or w/out heat. I like to cover my hair with my Heat therapy Wrap.
Step 6. Shampoo your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo. My favorite is the SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo
Step 7: Deep condition your hair using the SHEAMOISTURE SuperFruit Masque (This stuff is HEAVENLY). I swear, I have NEVER owned a conditioner that gave my hair this much slip. E-V-E-R.
Step 8: Rinse and style your as usual.
Watch this tutorial to see how AMAZING my DAY 1 hair looks after deep conditioning using the method provided above.
What is your go-to deep conditioning method?
Hey, Boo! My name is Lisa and you’ve stumbled upon my own little corner of the world. I’m a 30 something-year-old writer/mother/wife who happens to love lipstick, high heels, blackness, and the truth. You’ll find a mix of everything on this site, so I won’t bore you by trying to define this space. I hope you stay awhile!
Gorgeous as always girl! Love your hair straight and curly. We are currently in a slight cool down here in S. Fl and I love it. Nothing but good hair days after a week of such humidity that my hair was crying for help. I have very fine hair and it doesn’t like SheaMoisture at all but I do want to try that deep conditioning treatment and the heat wrap!

So I got the Shea Moisture African Black Soap Purification Masque in July and got a sample of the Superfruit Complex one at an event recently. Tried it out twice and I love the Superfruits one so much more than the African Black Soap one, it’s lit!
I’ve never actually used Honey on my hair and the few times I’ve pre-poo’d, I haven’t seen much of a difference. Will try it your way to see if there is much of a difference.
