How To Install Crochet Faux Locs
Believe it or not, when Toyokalon contacted me about doing a video featuring their hair, I balked. When it comes to styling my hair, my method is this: “keep moving it around and adding bobby pins until it looks cute.” Although I do provide hair styling tutorials pretty regularly, I was nervous about trying the crotchet method everyone raves about. Now that I’ve done it, however, I can see why people do it. Installing crochet faux locs was the easiest process EVER. I’m so happy I decided to throw caution to the wind.
How To Install Crochet Faux Locs
What You’ll Need:
- At least 4 packs of Hair. I used these ones made with Toyokalon Hair:
- A Crochet Latch
Step 1
Cornrow your hair. About 10-12 braids should do it.
Step 2
Using your crotchet latch (make sure it’s closed), push it through a braid
Step 3
Grab one of your faux locs and make sure the end loop is open wide.
Step 4
Hook the loc onto the end of your crochet latch, close the latch, and then slide it through.
Step 5
Once you’ve pulled the loc through slide it back through the loop, pulling it tight and forming a knot
Step 6
Continue until your entire head is covered in faux locs
Step 7
And Voila! you’re done!

Love these locs on you!!
What i use for skin care in the winter time is Dove beauty bar soap in white. I don’t add anymore moistue to my face. Dove’s soap adds the needed moisture to my skin. Here is the link to the soap. http://m.dove.us/products/bar-body-wash/beauty-bar/Dove-White-Beauty-Bar.aspx
My winter skin care is keeping it hydrated at all times.
This is my go to product. http://www.nyrajuskincare.com/bafakitnodry.html
I don’t really have anything special for winter skin. I just use my regular cream, jergens.
I’ve been dying to get faux locs installed in my hair, but I recently moved twice [the first time from California to Ohio, then from Ohio to Kansas] and I can’t find anyone to help me do my hair! I’m a naturalista and I’m pretty picky about who I let touch my hair….
Watching your tutorial encourages me to not only try braiding on my own but to try installing faux locs too!
I’ve been practicing braiding, now I just need some packs of hair ^.^
Love the locs. Oh so beautiful.
THIS IS GORGEOUS ON YOU!!!
Hello, was intrested in the crochet locs and i was wondering is it possible to add with locs already naturally loc . so my question is there a way to add the crochet locs for legnth….??
I have no idea. I don’t have locs so i couldn’t tell you.
Can you ship to Australia?
Ohh..winter skin care..yeah I don’t even really have a solid regimen for that, but I’ve been trying to use more butters like the BGLH whipped butters (http://www.bglh-marketplace.com/whipped-shea-cocoa-sample-pack-pick-3-scents/) and all natural soaps. So far been really loving those Nubian Heritage soaps!
During the winter I generally focus on hydrating my skin! I use a lot of moisturizing creams versus just doing lotion and also use salt or sugar scrubs every now and then to rid my body of dry, flaky skin. I get so dry in the winter (on my body) but my face is generally combo/oily all year round. For my face, I’ve been trying to just Keep it very clean, hydrated and have been focusing on serums to help with acne scarring and any weird skin conditions I get along with drinking more water.
Something I would like to try and add to my “skincare” routine is the makeup forever skin equalizer for oily skin. Here’s the link: http://m.sephora.com/step-1-skin-equalizer-primer-P393965
Beautiful! I would love to win to switch up my protective styles for the year. I would love to try crochet braids!
My winter skincare is using African black soap and raw Shea butter that my mom brings back to me when she go on vacation.
For my winter skin I use Mario Badesco products

I have combo acne prone skin. I do have to switch up for summer routine
In the Winter in Florida like most winters your skin gets dry, so moisturise continuously. Love Neutrogena body oil. It is made with Natural Sesame oil.
How are the crochet locs removed? Are they easy to remove? About how long did it take you to attach all the hair in this tutorial? How long to remove them?
Thank you!
you just cut and unloop them, it’s pretty easy. If you install them yourself, removing them will be a nobrainer, trust me. It took me about 2 hours to install the hair.
