Super Easy Natural Hair Tapered Cut Updo

Easy Natural Hair Tapered Cut Updo

I’ll be honest with you guys. This updo was a fluke. I twisted my hair the night before and one of the curls didn’t take, so I had to figure something out quickly, and voila! Tapered cut updo!

Before we get into the updo tutorial. Let’s talk talk about this FAB Jamaican Black Castor Oil I’ve been using. To achieve this look, I used the Rooted Treasure JBCO as a hot oil treatment and as a heat protectant. As we know JBCO has many great qualities, primarily as a great hair regrowth oil and moisture sealant. The Rooted Treasure JBCO is organic and made in Jamaica, so you aren’t getting the watered down processed stuff you might pick up locally. This stuff is legit. It even has the deep earthy fragrance real black castor oil is known for. Needless to say, it applied wonderfully in my hair and left me with less breakage and a low luster shine. A little goes a loong way.

Easy Tapered Cut Updo Tutorial

To achieve this style, I started on hair that had been washed, blow dried, twisted and then set with perm rods. I used Rooted Treasure JBCO as my hot oil treatment and also as my heat protectant, and I used Cantu Twist and Loc Gel as my styling agent.

Step 1.

Take down perm rods and fluff

Step 2.

Use fingers to pull hair into an upward motion, almost like you are trying to give yourself a mohawk.

Step 3.

Pull hair up, and place bobby pins to hold shape.

Step 4.

Continue pinning until all hair is up and in place. You should only need about 6 bobby pins.
