First Look: Urban Decay Moondust Palette on Dark Skin

Urban Decay Moondust Palette on Dark Skin

First, let me preface this post by letting you know that these swatches will not be fancy. I was up late one night and decided to hop on snapchat (follow me on Snap @ Lisaalamode) and share these swatches.

I’ve been eying the Urban Decay Moondust shadows for a while, but since I’m technically on a self-imposed makeup no-buy I had no idea that UrbanDecay was releasing a palette!

Needless to say, I broke my no-buy and grabbed it before I could change my mind.  The Urban Decay Moondust Palette costs $49 and includes 8 shadows.

Here are some very rough swatches I did with my finger, no primer, and one swipe (please excuse my cat, Mei-Ling, she’s obsessed with me and follows me everywhere I go).

I haven’t yet tested each color on my lid, but I was going out last night and decided to try Spector, the first light pink shade. I used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Strawberry Milk as a base (I purchased it at Ulta HERE), since it’s already has a pink/shimmer sheen to it.

Then I just dipped my brush into the palette and applied Spector. Here’s what it looked like on me:

I loved it, however, I did not see as much glitter as I would have liked. I looked up some reviews, and so far I’m reading that Spector has the least amount of pigment  of all the shadows in the entire palette. I’m not sure if that’s true, however. I think my mistake was not using my finger to apply the shadow. Fingers are always really good at picking up glitter shadows and powders.

Going forward, I will do as other reviewers have suggested and use either my finger or a flat synthetic brush to apply. This was pretty, but far too subtle for what I had in mind.

This palette still get an A vote from me, though.  It’s next to impossible to travel with real glitter shadows without getting them everywhere, so it’s nice to be able to have a compact glitter palette to carry around. Plus, this formula is so soft. Love. Love. Love.
