Mac X Taraji Review + Swatches + Dupes
I am a HUGE fan of Taraji P. Henson. I’ve loved her since Baby Boy, and I will continue to cheer her on as we all watch her star rise. That being said, when Mac Cosmetics announced that they’d be collaborating with her for an exclusive and limited edition collection, I knew I’d be placing an order.
As we all know I have an extensive lipstick collection, so I opted to purchase the two Skin Finishes included in the collection. I did not purchase the lipstick (which is still available for sale btw).
On the skin, both colors applied beautifully, however, highlight the truth (pictured below) was the winner for me.
By comparison, Taraji Glow simply didn’t pack enough punch to be more than a subtle blush on my dark skin. I am so acccustomed to Mac’s incredible pigment, so I was a little disappointed to see the color not translate quite as I had hoped. Still, it’s a really pretty blush for daytime wear.
My makeup collection is pretty extensive, as we know, so it’s not often that I find a product that I haven’t seen before. When I swatched these, I took a quick look through my collection to see if I could find some possible dupes. Both of these skinfinishes are sold out, so I was hopeful I’d find some cheaper alternatives for my readers.
Here’s what I found:
A possible dupe for Highlight The truth is Milani’s Baked Blush in “Luminoso ($7).” I absolutely love the Milani Baked blushes and I have found several Mac Skin Finish Dupes in my collection. If you get this one, be sure to add Red Vino and Rose D’oro to your cart. In fact, just get all of them. You won’t regret it!
Colourop Blush in “Swift” $8 is a dupe for Taraji Glow. The colourpop blushes are best applied with fingers or synthetic blush, but the color is almost identical. That being said, if your skin is darker than mine I wouldn’t buy it. The pigment simply isn’t rich enough.
