Last Friday, Solange Knowles dropped her first studio album after four years. The album, which is undeniably Pro-Black, is Knowles’ artistic response to all that plagues the black community. As she declares in F.U.B.U.“This Shit is For Us”
In the “Interlude: Tina Taught Me,” Ms. Tina Lawson declares:
Part of it is accepting that there is so much beauty in being black and that’s the thing I get emotional about. I’ve never wanted to be anything else. There is so much beauty in being black. It upsets me when we are not allowed to express that. Because you celebrate black culture doesn’t mean you don’t like white culture. It just means you are pro-black
Last night Knowles unveiled two videos from the album, which many are already hailing “Album of The Year.” Watch the video to “Don’t Touch My Hair,” and “Cranes in the Sky,” below:

Hey, Boo! My name is Lisa and you’ve stumbled upon my own little corner of the world. I’m a 30 something-year-old writer/mother/wife who happens to love lipstick, high heels, blackness, and the truth. You’ll find a mix of everything on this site, so I won’t bore you by trying to define this space. I hope you stay awhile!
