The last time I questioned Alicia Keys’ “No Makeup Movement,” I was called every name in the book. In fact, I believe I disabled comments on that post because folks had the pitch forks ready. Now, Alicia Keys’ Makeup Artist reveals that the singer does, in fact, wear some makeup.
According to Keys’ makeup artist, Dotti, Alicia does where some makeup while “performing or ‘Voice’ judging.” This includes filling in the her brows, enhancing her freckles or giving her cheeks a warm glow with a self-tanner.
Dotti also says:
Alicia gets regular facials, does acupuncture and she eats healthy and exercises…She knows you have to invest internally for your skin to look great externally. It’s also about how you process your energy. She comes from a very strong place and she comes from a very kind place. That in itself is super important. But it’s about the choices she’s making and the products she’s using. It’s the work of a good team. W Magazine
For the record, I never had an issue with Ms. Keys going bare face. I just didn’t then and I don’t know believe the act warranted a PR campaign and Lenny Letter. But there you have it, wearing makeup isn’t a sign you don’t love yourself, it’s just enhancing what you already have going on. You can wear as little or as much as you’d like.
Here are a few of my favorite products for when I want to go for a more “Natural Look.”
I wear it in “Polynesia” and it’s amazing coverage for a tinted moisturizer, without giving you the “makeup look.” Buy it HERE.
This little duo is amazing. The setting powder sets your skin to a nice matte finish and the darker color, gives you a nice daytime contour. I use this in the color “Deep.”
And lastly, my favorite natural-looking lip color is
