Chimamanda Adichie Is Under Fire For Saying Transwomen’s Experiences Are Not The Same As Those of Bio Women [VIDEO]

Feminist Icon, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, shared some controversial views regarding Transwomen. Adichie opined that if you are born a biological man and afforded the privileges of being a man, and then you switch genders at some point, you cannot equate your experiences as a transwoman to those of biological women.

A Transwoman is a transwoman…It’s not about how we wear our hair, it’s about the way the world treats us.”

While some applauded Adichie for her views, others felt she was lacking in empathy for the experiences of transwomen.

  2. They are not the same. Real women bleed for 7 days every month, going thru constant changing hormones etc. Its most defrinalty different just because ur trans you still need to have respect for actually real women

  3. How could anyone say a transgender person experience could be a real woman, the experience would never be the same , that’s why they are call trans, which mean to transition from one thing to another , a real woman have there cycle every month and at some point in life goes through menopause a transgender persons dose not have these feeling , a real woman gets pregnant and carry a child or multiple children for 9monts transgender person can not do no the experience could never be the same

    1. Oh, huh, I didn’t know sterile women weren’t women.

  4. She is right if your not born that way you don’t understand. I don’t care about people not liking what I’m writing. She is speaking the truth. They aren’t women. They can’t have babies they can’t breast feed. They aren’t women. End of discussion.

  5. I agree…just because you go through an operation, take some hormones, and ID as a woman does not make it so. When you can carry a child, feed it, menstruate monthly and endure menopause, the you will be a women like myself my brother.

    1. Also when you have XX chromosomes from birth THEN (to other the other traits combined) you are a woman.

      1. This just… isn’t true. You have *no* idea what chromosomes someone has when you meet them, that’s not how you figure out someone’s gender.

I am an XXY woman, from birth. The only reason you know is ’cause I told you.

  6. There is nothing wrong with what she said so leave her alone.we need to stop playing into these delusions of hay people a man is aan until the day he dies,so are the women.do stop attacking this dear sister gor speaking the trith about you gays.

  7. Im a bio woman who identify as a man and i agree that our experiences differ from trans women. I dont have the experience of being a bio man for instance I dont stradle a urinal! I can accept that Im more comfortable wearing boxers than panties. I believe there should be distinct labels. Humanity has evolved with people accepting their gender role.

If u you dont understand what she is saying your a fucking idiot!! pure and simple…. it needs no explaination…. just like how a black person who turns white would still not share all of the experiences of a white person and could not fully relate and vice versa… give me a break.

  9. To disagrre diminishes both natural women and trans women unique experiences.

  10. MAHREEYAH says:

SHE IS SPEAKING TRUTH…. MALE IMPERSONATORS ARE NOT THE SAME AS BEING A WOMEN.. “MALE IMPERSONATORS” WILL NEVER BE A WOMEN..I DON’T CALL THEM WOMEN…I’M A WOMEN… WHY SHOULD I DIMINISHED MYSELF AS A WOMEN IN AUGHT TO MAKE A “FEMALE IMPERSONATOR” COMFORTABLE..I WILL NOT..I DO A DISSERVICE TO MY SELF AND ALL THE WOMEN IN THE WORLD MAKING A CLAIM MALE IMPERSONATORS ARE WOMEN WHEN IN FACT YOU ARE NOT…OH HOMOPHOBIC I AM NOT… I DON’T FEAR YOU..I DON’T LIKE THE IDEA… YOU ARE TRYING TO DIMINISH WHAT A REAL WOMEN IS… AND WHAT YOU ARE NOT….

  11. She’s right. The experiences are different. Bio women don’t go through the same type of rejection, ridicule, and experiences that Trans women go through. And trans women don’t go through the menstrual cramps, and child birth that bio women go through…

  12. I have to say, there is no way a transgender can ever know what it is to be a true woman. They can change the apperance of their organs, doesn’t mean they have truely and whole heartedly lived the female experience.
