I’ve been a long, long-time Sephora enthusiast. I’m pretty sure I’m VIB rouge until 2020 (if you don’t know what that means, I ain’t fitna tell ya). Still, the fact that the girls in the video below had this experience is not surprising. It happens everywhere. Remember when a Victoria Secret Employee threw out all the black customers after discovering one black woman was stealing? Read all about that incident HERE.
Here’s what happened at Sephora:
Apparently they two women witnessed a Sephora employee racially profile them. They even witnessed her fingering them to the security guard, and politely asked her to stop it. Caught red-handed, the employee still refused to accept her behavior. In this video, you’ll see the microaggressions women of color, far too frequently, face at the hands of their white counterparts. The employee doesn’t listen, denies what the two girls witnessed, pretends to not know the security guard, and condescends one of the girls by calling her “Sweetheart.” The employee ultimately responds by telling them:
“I”ll never do that again…You guys may not know this, but I’m from the hood. I’m from Gary, Indiana. I have black friends.”
Watch for yourself:
Another day in the life of a black girl. Sigh…..
