We take no pleasure in reporting this, by the way. Gray’s Anatomy star and activist, Jessie Williams continues to disappoint. Not just because he’s going through a tumultuous divorce, but because he is going through one, so soon after professing his love and support for black women, including his wife. If you recall, Jessie’s impending divorce was announced this year, just a few months after giving this moving speech:
It was then rumored that the divorce was sparked by Jessie’s infidelity and relationship with actress Minka Kelly (read about it HERE). Jessie, denies these allegations, insisting that he did not throw away his family for a “cute girl.” Read about that HERE. Today, we learn from an exclusive on TMZ, that his wife,Aryn Drake-Lee, is asking for sole custody of their two small children.
According to TMZ:
Jesse Williams‘ wife says he is a reckless parent who has fits of rage and worries he exposes their kids to a “revolving door” of women … this according to new, explosive divorce docs.
Aryn goes on, claiming Jesse has a violent temper and cites a road rage incident last month with his next-door neighbor. She says after an argument the neighbor flipped off Jesse, and he then “aggressively pursued him in his car” with their 2 kids inside. She says Jesse threatened to kill him.
She’s also pissed off that Jesse posts pics of their kids on social media and says he’s doing it as a “buffer for the negative talk about him in the media.”
She says the kids are showing psychological signs of damage and wants the judge to correct things.
To be clear, we not begrudge Williams for being human and falling in love. Do you. What irks many of us, however, is that he presented himself to be someone he isn’t. Marriages don’t fall apart that easily or that quickly, so after making these loud declarations in favor of black women, it hits a nerve to see him doing exactly what we see so far too many other black men doing. We feel duped, that’s all.
