23 Images That Highlight The Creative Funk of Afropunk 2017

Afropunk Festival, like Curlfest, is a yearly event, held in Brooklyn, where folks come out to celebrate both their creative freedom and their blackness. The two festivals diverge at two key points, however: 1. Afropunk Festival is a music festival and 2. Afropunk is far more inclusive, with a loud presence from the LGBT community. Having attended Curlfest (see my recap HERE), I can certainly attest to the fact that Curlfest celebrates more traditional beauty, whereas Afropunk celebrates everything that is nontraditional, from beauty, to hairstyles, to fashion. Afropunk is all about being funky and free, honey!
