Patriarchy is one helluva drug. Indeed we are so entrenched in the belief in the supremacy of maleness that when an an adult male responds to sexual assault in an “unmanly” behavior, rather than lend support his way, we disregard his claims.
As I type, comment threads are teaming with folks blasting Actor Terry Crews for detailing his sexual assault on twitter only moments ago. Folks claim Crews let the assault happen for the sake of his career.

Crews’s revelation comes on the heels of actresses (including Gwyneth Paltrow and Angela Jolie) outing producer, Harvey Weinstein, for his casting-couch practices. Despite the bravery it’s taken for this grown black man to come forward, folks still aren’t here for the message. I won’t go so far as to post every disgusting message I’ve read, but here are a few:
