I don’t know about you, but I am beyond excited and inspired by the number of black-owned cosmetics companies making their mark. From Juvia’s place to Fenty Beaty, I swear 2018 is slated to be the year for black girls and beauty. Even though Fenty Beauty wasn’t a match for my skin type (read my review HERE and technically isn’t black owned ), we still have to give credit where credit is due: Rihanna launched a makeup collection with the specific intention of including ALL women of color. While Fenty is not the first line to have 40+ shades of foundation, it’s the first in recent years to make those shades available both online and in store on the release date. There are, however, a growing list of black-owned cosmetics companies who may not have the Fenty budget, but are still creating makeup for us. And since I’m all about keeping it in the family, I’ve compiled a list of black-owned Cosmetics companies that make foundation for deeper skin tones.
While I haven’t tried foundation from all of the brands listed, I can personally vouch for the quality of these three:
Danessa Myricks Vision Cover Cream
The PERFECT full coverage foundation, especially for videos and pictures. In the picture below, I’m wearing Vision Cover Cream in W06. I used one pump and covered my entire face. Word to the wise: This isn’t a mattifying foundation, so if you have oily skin double up on the primer and setting power. Buy my favorite mattifying primers HERE or HERE , and my favorite mattifying Setting powder in the color “Caramel” HERE.
In the picture below I’m wearing the Cream to Powder foundation (see my review and watch me apply it HERE), and it’s also well suited for oily and combo skin types. You do, however, have to set it with a mattifying powder like the one I mentioned above.
Now, without further ado, I give you a listing of 10 10 Black-0wned Cosmetic Companies That Make Foundation For Dark Skin
