I’ve already touched on some of these points in my post entitled “10 things You No Longer Do When You Realize You are a Grown A$$ Woman,” but as we embark upon a new year, I felt it was important to not only revisit these points, but to also reinforce them so we know not to forget them in the months ahead.
I usually go into the New Year without any major resolutions, but 2017 was an emotional drain and I refuse to go into 2018 dealing with any of that mess. That being said, let’s take a look at my list of 10 things ain’t nobody got time for in 2018.
The bullshit is somewhat vague and will change depending upon the circumstance, time of day, time of month, you name it. However, you’ll know you’ve engaged in the bullshit when you find yourself wondering why the hell you participated in something that didn’t benefit you in the least. Spending time with folks who complain nonstop. Willfully engaging in any form of relationship with folks you know are shady as hell or folks you know don’t eff with you like that. Basically, the bullshit means putting your needs and wants second to the needs of people who don’t deserve to be put first. You know what it is, and ain’t nobody got time for it in 2018.
We know what it is, we know our triggers, and it’s time we all get a hold if it. There is medication, both prescribed and homeopathic, yoga, and licensed healthcare professionals who have made it their life’s work to help people like you and me. Suffering needlessly is so 2017.
It’s likely that I won’t be clearing up all of my debt woes in 2018, but I can certainly make an effort to get it under control. There are debt counselors and credit specialists I plan to employ to help me get back to my credit score of 800. I’m also actively looking for a 9-5 as a means of adding another line of revenue to my income. It CAN and will be done. Y’all with me?
We all have moments of self-doubt and fear. Everybody. But there is literally no benefit to feeling badly about yourself. None. As long as you know you aren’t out here treating people poorly, you are okay! This year we will straighten our crowns and refuse to allow any circumstance to make us feel any less valuable than we are.
Listen, if you love your belly fat, love it. I ain’t mad at you. But I do know I’ve been complaining about mine for the entire year. I worked out for a few months, and then went right back to drinking soda and complaining about my chubby tummy. No more. I’m ready to get as close as possible to the body I had before my son, who, by the way, is now four years old. Enough time has passed.
Need I say more? Drop any and all dead weight and keep it pushing.
Dead End Jobs
There is a job for you. Do the work and find it. We all have bills to pay, but ain’t no job worth your mental health. If that job is killing you, leave. If it means going to work at the mall, despite all of your degrees and credentials, so be it. Get you that mall job, work on rebuilding, and take control of your life. Suffering for the man is very much 2017.
Who doesn’t have them? I know I do. Allowing these issues to permeate my present relationships has got to stop. I know I’m getting back into therapy as early as next week to tackle these demons once and for all. No excuses.
Cancelling any and everybody for every little infraction
Listen, I am all for ending dead-end relationships, however, cancelling/cutting off folks for every little thing ain’t the thing. Maybe it’s you. Maybe those mommy/daddy issues have you out here making a mess of your relationships. I can’t begin to diagnose what you have going on, but if you find yourself cancelling more people than you have to cancel it might be time to check yo’self, boo.
