My Natural Hair journey has been interesting, to say the least. I’ve been natural for more than half of my life, but I’ve often struggled to love my hair at every phase.
I’ve been long:
Short:
Last year, my hair stressed me out so badly, I walked into a random salon, asked the stylist for a shape up, and came out and damn near bald:
I told myself it was “just hair,” but then I rocked crochet braids for 8 months because I hated it so badly.
I let it grow out to this point before going into Sharita, of The Loft Medford’s salon right outside of Boston, Massachusetts.
Sharita gave me a cut, followed by the best wash n go of my life. By the time it was over, I knew that I could never depart from my beloved tapered cut again:
Indeed I don’t think I’ll ever give this style up. Even on my worst hair days, my hair is styled and chic. Watch me get the perfect tapered cut HERE:
How do you like to wear your natural hair? Long? Short? Or in between? Sound off below!

I’m a 30 something-year-old writer/mother/wife who happens to love lipstick, high heels, blackness, and the truth. You’ll find a mix of everything on this site, so I won’t bore you by trying to define this space. I hope you stay awhile!
Love your hair cut, Lisa! I recently cut my hair into a tapered style but it has grown out a little. You’ve inspired me to keep it up! You look gorge!
