Makeup Tips For Moms
This post is sponsored by Walmart, but all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Now that I’m a mom of two I find myself at Walmart fairly regularly. Frankly, I’m not sure how mothers functioned before Walmart, but I digress. While we all know I have an extensive makeup collection, makeup is my happy place so I’ve been able to score some great finds via the Walmart Beauty selections. Walmart’s Here for Every Beauty Section has some fabulous options for fall and beyond, so today I’ll be sharing my Must-Know Makeup Tips for Moms: The Fall Edition. And yes, I know what you’re thinking: Lisa, you just had a baby 2 months ago, how and why are you even bothering with makeup? My answer: it helps me to feel human again. Between breastfeeding, mothering both children, and working fulltime on both client and blog work, feeling like a zombie has started to become the norm and I don’t like it. Not even a little bit. So I wear makeup a few times a week, no biggie. The challenge, however, has been learning how to apply less makeup (time is of the essence these days), while still looking pretty damn good if I do say so myself.
And since I’m a generous person, I’m dropping all the must-know makeup tea for moms on the go and on a budget. Without further ado:
Conceal. Conceal. Conceal
Dark circles are likely to be a part of your day, so I can’t say this enough: Find a trusted and crease-proof concealer and dab it on your under-eye circles. Using your finger is fine. Also, you’ll want to buy a shade that is 2-3 shades lighter than your own skin tone to brighten up the area. Milani’s Concealer is my fav. Check it out HERE.
2. Opt for a Medium-Full Coverage Matte Foundation
Reapplying or touching up makeup just doesn’t happen in mommy-land, so wearing makeup that isn’t going to last the full day is a waste of time. My go-to is Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily Skin. Check it out HERE. For extra lasting power, top it off with a loose setting powder like the BLACK RADIANCE TRUE COMPLEXION™ LOOSE SETTING Powder.
I don’t know about you but that pregnancy glow is long gone, so I like to dust on a little faux-glow on the tops of my cheeks to make sure I don’t, you know, look dead. One of my favs is Wet n Wild’s highlighting powder. I finish the look with a setting spray. Matte foundation has a tendency to remove all signs of life from your face, so it’s good to use a setting spray to bring it all together. Wet n Wild has a variety you can choose from like so
Yup. Blush. Again, if you haven’t noticed, the theme here is to bring back to life all of the youthful energy we once had. So in addition to our highlighter, foundation, and concealer, you’ll want to have a nice berry-colored blush to add some lift and color to your cheeks. Black Radiance’s Artisan Color Baked Blush in Brick House is perfect for women with deeper skin tones, and even more perfect for fall.
5. Long-lasting Lip Color: Liquid Lipsticks
I don’t know who came up with liquid lipsticks, but they should be kissed and kissed often. Liquid lipsticks are long-lasting and a must to keep those puckers colored all day. Some brands do have a tendency to lean on the drying side, so you can always opt for a long lasting lipgloss instead. Wet n Wild Catsuit Matte liquid lipsticks and High Shine Liquid Lipsticks come in a variety of fall-appropriate shades, too. Maybelline Matte Ink Liquid lipsticks are incredibly comfortable and will legitimately last you all day. If you’re in the market for a full-colored lipgloss with tons of shine, I highly recommend the Milani Amore Lipglosses. My favorite fall color is Temptation 05 as seen in the photo above.
6. Glue-on and Press on Nails
Who has the time for manicures and chipped nails, mamas? Not us! Ladies, free yourself! I live in glue-on and press-on nails. They are long-lasting and keep you looking polished even when you feel anything but. Impress, Walmart’s Salon Perfect, and Kiss have great selections for fall. These aren’t your mama’s Lee Press-Ons! Check out more fall nail options HERE.
That’s it, Moms! Six tried and true must-know makeup tips for moms. The major takeaway for today, ladies? Conceal, highlight, glue-on and go!
