Why Time with Your Bestie Is So Important, Especially Now
We’ve been in an alternate reality for the last 6 months, and like you, I’m over it. I feel as though all I do is mother, and work, and wife, and exist, and it’s, well, not so fun.
Then it dawned on me.
I love my immediate family, make no mistake, but there’s something about spending an afternoon laughing at whatever (it really doesn’t matter) with a friend.
So I called up my cousin who has been spending a lot of time at home like me, and we decided to get together outside in my backyard, just the two of us, and laugh. Well, laugh and eat. I live for Mexican food. I could literally consume guacamole, tortilla chips, and margaritas all day every day. So I put together a super casual Mexican-themed happy hour. Also, between us, I’ve been lazily snacking on the best Organic Tortilla Chips I’ve ever had in my life, and I wanted, no needed, to have someone else happily partaking in their goodness. Late July Organic Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips?? Baybeee! Listen, you have not lived until one of these bad boys has melted in your mouth. While of course, Andre now knows of their splendor, do you understand how good it feels to sit with one of your friends or family members and just talk? About food? And eat it? Together? There’s nothing like it.
No, I mean it. There is literally nothing like it. There’s something to be said about being in the presence of an energy that so perfectly aligns with your own.
The truth is I’ve been stressed. Pandemic-schooling, working, mothering two small children, and being a wife is a lot. I needed a little happiness for the afternoon. And Mexican-style food is indeed happiness.
By the way, Late July Organic Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips finally made me trust in-store brand tortilla chips again. The ingredients are top-notch and you can taste the difference. They don’t have that highly processed highly manufactured taste many of us have come to endure. So adding these chips to our little at-home happy hour was a no-brainer. These organic, melt-in-your-mouth, non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten-Free, Vegan, Kosher chips bring on the goodness without the junk. Perfect for the health-conscious foodie I’ve become as of late. The Sea Salt & Lime flavor are my fav, but Late July Restaurant Style tortilla chips also come in three other flavors: Sea Salt, Chia & Quinoa, and Blue Corn.
Goodness, we had a blast. The simple and uncomplicated time we spent together was the definition of self-care. Even experts affirm that time spent with friends and family directly impacts how happy we feel.
I really do encourage you to take an afternoon off to spend some safe, one-on-one time with a friend or family member. No cooking necessary, either. I grabbed everything you see here from the grocery store, even the guacamole. Being served by a handsome waiter or bartender would have been nice, too, but who am I to complain?
The bottom line is this: self-care these days may look a little differently, but it’s still important. Take time for yourself. You deserve t!
